Hospitals are said to be following certain norms in fire safety that are required in empanelling with the government for its schemes. City hospitals are reviewing the fire safety and refilling hydrants while others have asked the security staffs to be alert in such a situation.

Other than the standard operating systems hospitals are expected to be equipped with all the latest tools to avert disasters in case of fire accidents. The components of fire safety are composed of elements that become visible during the blackout and also during dense cover of smoke.

There should be proper firefighting measures in hospitals to deal with any fire incidents. There should be proper monitoring of electrical equipment’s and wiring. In case of power back up also additional wiring is expected to be done so as to avoid a short circuit in the hospitals.

Before empanelment every hospital requires a NOC. Inspections for fire safety are required at a periodic level. There should be proper check list of fire hydrant at every floor, every stairs there should be fire risers, underground and overhead water tanks, fire alarms, fire exit and public exit systems Many hospitals are also observed being conducted with mock drills.
